Part 1:
“Hi, my name is Pedro Britas. I'm originally from Brazil. I moved to the US when I was around 13 years old. After high school, I decided to pursue another passion of mine, which is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. And so I'm a non-traditional student. I went back to college afterwards to pursue my other passion, which is dentistry. Throughout this process, I gained my associations at a community college, and then I transferred to a four year institution where I got my bachelor's degree with a 3.6 GPA and a 3.62 science GPA. My biggest issue with the preparation to get into dental school was the DAT and interviews of course. And I ran through this group study where after reaching like a 17 AA on my DAT. I saw someone posting that they had a great opportunity of mentorship and they got into school with a 17AA. So I reached out to them and they had proposed me to reach out to dental school guide, which I immediately did. And I talked to one of the people that worked there. They were great with different insights. And I purchased the one-on-one mentorship with Dr. Townsend and that was the best thing that I did because I had looked into other opportunities of one-on-one mentorship, but they were non-affordable. They were like $7,000 up, which to me was crazy and I couldn't afford it. So therefore I started working with Dr. Townsend. I had before purchased the adea Explorer, which gives you different insights, how to get into dental school, prove your classes and things like that. But even though I had input some schools there, that- wasn't really a reach for me. And Dr. Townsend switched them up and reduced them and giving me different strategies into how to, you know, focus and pursuing this new path. While working with Dr. Townsend, it was an invaluable experience for me. He, you know, boosted my confidence by showing me different strategies, how to tackle interviews by doing previous hand interviews and like asking me questions and prepping me for a Kira assessment, CASPER, and interviews itself, which to me was an invaluable resource and experience that.”
Part 2:
“And I would definitely encourage people that are looking into getting to dental school. Doesn't matter where you're at in your path. Doesn't matter if you're applying, if you're still taking your DAT, if you have taken your DAT and you think you have no chances. Dr. Townsend, he does a great job and his team, they do a great job lining out things that you can do to improve your application and recommendations on how you can get there, you know by giving you invaluable resources and things that you can do to enhance your chances of getting to dental school. So any dental students out there, I would definitely encourage you. They do payment options. You don't have to pay everything up front. To me, that was a great thing because, you know, being a student, we all have financial struggles. So to me, this was, you know, something that I'm an advocate for and I'll definitely always you know, indicate people and tell people about Dental School Guide, because to me, they were, you know, a game changer in my application and interview process for sure.”
